What You Will Need
1 cup All-purpose Flour (125g)
¼ Tsp Fine Salt
10 tsps 5oz cold high-quality Butter
1/3 cup freezing water
Method of Preparation
- Add flour and salt in a medium-size bowl and stir until it is thoroughly mixed.
- Add the cold butter to the flour bowl. Then use a pastry blender to cut the butter into the flour dough. Continue until the butter is in uniform sizes like the size of a pea.
- Create a hole in the middle of the dough and pour in all the water a little at a time. Use a fork to stir to mix the dough.
- Sprinkle flour on a cutting board and place the dough on it. Then pat the dough into a rough square. You will notice bits of butter that may seem too dry. Not to worry it will mix together with each roll, so do not add water to it.
- Flour a rolling pin and roll the dough into a rectangle shape 10 inches long. Precision is not really needed here.
- Fold the bottom 3rd of the dough over the center of the dough. Then fold the upper 3rd of the dough over the center of the dough too. Rotate it and repeat the process. Always use additional flour to the dough as required to prevent it from sticking.
- Roll out dough and turn it at least six or seven times.
- When this is done, wrap it in a plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight. You can also allow the dough to be frozen too as long as you want.
- Remove from the refrigerator when you are ready to make your toaster strudel. Simply roll out the flour for your toaster strudel.
- Follow the procedure for its preparation above and bake.

Tips for Making A Perfect Toaster Strudel Icing
- The duration of time the glaze spends in the fridge determines its consistency and thickness.
- You can buy a pack of glaze from the shop to see the consistency it should be.
- Most toaster vanilla glaze is white. But sometimes they are colored. If you want, add a few drops of food coloring to change the color of your glaze until you get your preferred color. After which you can put it in the fridge to cool.
- Do not make your glaze too light or runny. The whole essence of the glaze is for it to stick to your pastries.
- Do not use a runny jam for your toaster strudel. It will give you a messy pastry.
- Always serve your toaster strudel warm, it tastes better in that state.
- Do not add your icing or glaze to your pastries immediately after baking so that the glaze will not melt too much; you don’t want a messy pastry. Allow them to get cool a little.
- Toaster strudels are very big when they are done. Allow them to get cool for a minute. This way they deflate. You can also press it down gently when it is cool.
- Keep the jam away from the edge of your dough and ensure that it crimps tightly. This is to prevent the jam from leaking out of the dough.
- Always bake your dough on a parchment or baking paper. This makes it bake better and ensures you don’t have a mess even if the jam filling eventually leaks out.
